The Treadmill Engineer was summoned to London this week to assist Barbra Streisand. Ms Streisand, who is currently on a European tour has a strict daily fitness routine to help keep her in top physical and vocal shape. She favours a particular type of exercise bike and uses two identical machines. One is at her home in California whilst the other travels around the world with her when she is on tour. Unfortunately, the tour bike gave-up-the-ghost at a critical moment just prior to final rehearsals at the O2 Arena and after some frantic searching of the internet, a call was made late on Monday night (May 27th 2013) to The Treadmill Engineer, who is also an expert in bikes.
The Treadmill Engineer, who is a Chartered Engineer and well known across the UK for his expertise in servicing all kinds of fitness equipment, initially though it was a prank call. It was only when he checked on Ms Steisand’s official website that he realised that her show really was in town and that the enquiry was genuine. After some swift re-arranging of diaries, The Treadmill Engineer hot-footed it to London early on Tuesday morning and made it to The Dorchester Hotel with the necessary parts for the bike which were couriered in specially. The repair was duly completed on the same day much to the relief of Ms. Streisand! Barbra Streisand is performing in two shows at London’s O2 Arena in June before moving on to mainland Europe and Israel.
